Core First Aid & CPR highly recommends having an AED onsite, available and ready for use. Having an AED available to the public and staff can be a matter of life and death.

An Automated External Defibrillator (also called a ‘defibrillator, defib, or AED for short), is an easy to use medical device that monitors the heart’s rhythm and it is designed to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. If necessary, it will give the heart an electric shock to defibrillate a heart in fibrillation. The device will guide a user with voice prompts and visuals in an emergent cardiac situation. AEDs are cleared by Health Canada and the FDA for public access.

  • Without a bystander using an AED, 70% of cardiac arrest patients either died or survived with impaired brain function.
  • A heart attack victim loses 7-10% chance at survival for every minute that an AED is not used.

Suggested for: Large or Small Offices, Restaurants, Industrial Sites, Schools, Daycares, Home Care Facilities, Community Centres, Shelters, Shopping Centres, Gas Stations, Gaming Centres, Fitness Centres, Recreation Centres, Arenas, Fire Departments, Construction sites, Dental Offices, Health Centres, Large outdoor events, Cottages and Homes.

  • I especially recommend AEDs for rural communities due to the high probability that Emergency Responders will be delayed.

When you help someone in distress, Canada’s Good Samaritan Law will protect you from any liability. All voluntary rescuers are legally protected when they help those in sudden cardiac arrest.
